Rust single-player worlds can be imported to your Rust server to allow you and your friends to play together on your world. This guide will show you how to import your Rust single-player world to your server.
To grab a single-player world:
1. Login to your Steam account through the Steam app.
2. Click the Library tab on your Steam app and ensure Rust is installed and that you already have a single-player world setup.
3. Once you have ensured Rust is installed and a single-player world is created(and played on), ensure the Rust game is closed and go back to your Library tab.
4. Locate the Rust game in your Library, right-click that game, and click the Properties... option.
5. A window will appear. In this window, click the LOCAL FILES option.
6. Within this option, click Browse... to open your Rust local files.
7. In these files, click the maps folder and locate the .map file for the single-player world you wish to use. Keep this folder open and proceed to the next process.
To upload that single-player world:
1. Go to a file sharing website such as Dropbox. Upload your .map world here and then share that download link. It should appear similar to "https://www.dropbox.com/s/mcph/single-player.map?dl=1".
2. With that link in hand, login to your server's control panel and click your Rust server.
3. On your Rust control panel, click FTP File Access to enter your server's FTP.
4. In your server's FTP, go to the location /rust/rust.properties file/. Click to edit this file.
5. In the rust.properties file, locate the server_url option. Paste the download link into that option like this:
server_url=https://www.dropbox.com/s/mcph/single-player.map?dl=1
In that URL, if you see dl=0, ensure that is set to dl=1 instead.
6. Next, locate the serverLevel= setting. Set this to the serverLevel used when creating your custom map.
This can be: Procedural Map, Barren, Hapis, Craggy Island, or Savas Island
7. Afterward click Save & Close, exit your FTP, and then restart your server.
8. Upon joining, the world will automatically load on the server and players will be able to play in your world.
