Where to Find Mods?
How to Install Mods on Your PC (client-side)
- Start by logging into the Steam app.
- Start Steam, go to your Library, right-click 7 Days to Die, and then click Browse Local Files.
- In your 7 Days to Die local files, create a new folder named Mods. It's time to download the mods you'd like to use.
- Locate and download those particular mods.
- Using a program such as 7Zip or WinRAR, unzip those mods(using an empty folder can help with ensuring the mod is unzipped properly). Mods will unzip generally in this format: \ModFolder1\ModFolder2\ModInfo.xml\
- For mods, you would only need the folder that contains the ModInfo.xml file. That would mean in the above example, you would only pull and keep \ModFolder2\ModInfo.xml\.
- You would then place that folder containing the ModInfo.xml file into the Mods folder in your 7 Days to Die local files.
- Repeat this for each mod downloaded. Once done, start 7 Days to Die and this will load the mods.
How to Install Mods on Your Server (server-side)
After following the above client-side installation guide for mods, you are ready to install these mods on your server.
- Start by logging into the Steam app.
- Start Steam, go to your Library, right-click 7 Days to Die, and then click Browse Local Files.
- In your 7 Days to Die local files, locate the Mods folder.
- Right-click that Mods folder and using a program such as 7Zip or WinRAR, archive that mods folder as a .zip file.
- Click OK to confirm the creation of that .zip file.
- Keep that .zip file safe and now, login to your 7 Days to Die server's control panel.
- On the control panel, click FTP File Access to enter the server's FTP.
- In the FTP, enter the 7d2d folder and then click Upload File(s).
- Upload that Mods.zip file.
- Once that is fully uploaded, select that file and then click Unzip at the top of the FTP.
- After unzipping that and allowing that to finish, exit the FTP and then restart the server.
The server will now start with the mods installed and you can now begin playing on your server!
Important: Players will need to install the same mods on their client-side as the server in order for them to join and play.
